Planning automations
2026-09-03Last updated
Automation workflows can take many forms based on your needs. Consider the key parts of the process you want to automate, and learn about the available automation methods to choose the right approach.
Considerations for automation
When considering automation, ask the following questions:
- What triggers the process?
- What actions should run?
- Is there a process that applies to multiple entities? Which entities?
- When should the automation be active or inactive?
- Should it start now or later?
Automation methods
Once you have an idea of the process you want to automate, you can create an automation in one of several ways:
- Automation entities: These are the most comprehensive mechanism for configuring automation in Security Center SaaS.
- Threat levels: These are predefined scenarios that you activate for a specific area or the entire system to manage special situations.
- Event-to-actions and scheduled tasks: These are legacy mechanisms for creating automations, and not recommended for new deployments.
