How to work with maps in Security Center SaaS
Maps in Security Center SaaS enhance situational awareness and system security by enabling users to view and navigate your facilities in real time. They also ease the management of cameras, doors, and other entities.

    Maps in Security Center SaaS enhance situational awareness and system security by enabling users to view and navigate your facilities in real time. They also ease the management of cameras, doors, and other entities.

    Use the Map designer task to create and edit maps that represent physical locations of your equipment to Security Center SaaS users.

    Map objects graphically represent system entities, such as cameras, doors, and intrusion detection areas, as clickable objects on maps. They let you monitor and interact with your system without leaving the map.

    The Map Manager centrally manages all mapping resources in your system, including imported map files, external map providers, and KML objects. It also acts as the map server for client applications and as the record provider for system entities placed on georeferenced maps.

    Before you can create maps based on Microsoft Azure Maps or Google Maps data, you must configure a map provider for the map type you want to use.

    To make your maps interactive, you must add map objects. Map objects graphically represent system entities, such as cameras, doors, and intrusion detection areas, as clickable objects on maps. They let you monitor and interact with your system without leaving the map.
  - Adding areas to your maps
    You can add areas to your maps so Security Center SaaS operators can use them as map links, monitor people counts, show people presence, or all of the above.
  - Adding cameras to your maps
    You can add cameras to your maps to help Security Center SaaS operators monitor live video and camera events, manage alarms, and control PTZ cameras and recordings directly from the map.
  - Adding text, images, and shapes to your maps
    You can add text, images, and shapes to your maps to indicate points of interest or to represent entities using something other than the standard look. These map objects can also function as map links.
  - Adding KML objects to your maps
    You can add geographic features and dynamic information, such as roads and traffic flow, to georeferenced maps. This is done by importing Keyhole Markup Language (KML) objects to the Map Manager role.
  - Showing mobile users on maps
    To show mobile users on maps, you must enable location sharing on Security Center SaaS Operation devices and grant the View mobile users privilege to Security Center SaaS users.

    You can export or print your Security Center SaaS maps to PNG or PDF, or print physical copies to share important information outside Security Center SaaS.

How to work with maps in Security Center SaaS

Maps in Security Center SaaS enhance situational awareness and system security by enabling users to view and navigate your facilities in real time. They also ease the management of cameras, doors, and other entities.

To use maps, Security Center SaaS operators can use the Maps task either in the web interface or in Operation desktop.

With maps, you can do the following:

Pan, zoom, and navigate through different maps.
Span a single map across multiple monitors.
Control the level of information you wish to see on a map.
Monitor and respond to alarms and events in real time.
Monitor the real-time status of equipment such as cameras, doors, and zones.
Monitor moving objects, such as patrol vehicles and Genetec Mobile users.
Directly control equipment from the map, such as panning cameras or unlocking doors.
Locate entities on maps and view nearby entities.

How map search works

When you search a map for objects, addresses, or coordinates, keep the following in mind:

Searches in Operation desktop list map objects and display them on any maps they are part of when selected.
Searches in Configuration desktop only list map objects found on the selected map.
Coordinates and addresses can be used as search terms only on geographic and georeferenced maps.
Address searches must include the full street name with its suffix, or you can search by ZIP or postal code.
