About areas

In Genetec ClearID™, an area is a logical entity that defines the relationship between Synergis™ doors and area owners. Areas are managed by the area owner.

Doors are not managed in Genetec ClearID™. Doors are managed in Security Center SaaS.

Managing doors from ClearID is impractical due to the distance from the hardware.
A door must be properly configured in Security Center SaaS and linked to the hardware physically managing the door.
After areas are created in ClearID and synchronized in Security Center SaaS, doors can then be added to those areas in Security Center SaaS.
Note: Doors moved under areas inherit the access rules of the area.
Door setup is performed in Security Center SaaS separately from the areas. After both doors and areas are present in Security Center SaaS, doors must be added to areas.
