Adding automations to maps

2026-02-11Last updated

To allow Security Center SaaS operators to manually trigger automations directly from the maps, you can add automations to maps as map objects.

What you should know

Adding automations to maps is optional. A Security Center SaaS operator must have the Run automations privilege to manually trigger automations.
Navigation diagram showing step 5 of 5.

Procedure

  1. In Configuration desktop, open the Map designer task.
  2. Select a recent map or click Browse all maps to open an existing map.
The selected map fills the Map designer workspace.
  3. In the toolbar, click Automation, select the automation you want to add, and drag it to the desired position on the map.
The widgets for configuring the map object appear in the right panel. The map object always takes on the identity of the entity that it represents.
  4. (Optional) In the Identity widget, assign a custom icon to the automation.
    Tip:
Choose an icon that matches the automation's specific purpose and that helps operators quickly identify it on the map. Changing the icon here also changes the icon assigned to the automation on its Identity page, and vice versa.
  5. In the Map designer toolbar, click Save.

After you finish

Activate the automation.
