About camera dewarping

Camera dewarping is the transformation used to straighten a digital image taken with a fisheye lens. You can dewarp live and playback video from direct-to-cloud and managed Archiver cameras.

How camera dewarping works

When you enroll a fisheye camera in Security Center SaaS, the system automatically detects the fisheye lens and configures the unit. The only setting to configure is the camera position on the camera's Settings page in the Configuration task.

If you change the configuration of a fisheye camera, you must restart Security Center SaaS to view the changes. Playback video that hasn’t been exported is displayed using the new configuration.

To dewarp a stream from a fisheye camera, zoom in on the video tile in the Tiles task. The Configuration task can display fisheye cameras, but cannot dewarp streams.
Note:
After you dewarp a stream, camera overlays are warped in the video tile.

Exported video from fisheye cameras

Video files exported to G64x are displayed using the fisheye lens configuration. This enables the Genetec™ Portable Video Player, Genetec Operation desktop, and Security Desk to dewarp the playback video.

Video files exported to MP4 can't be dewarped.

Supported fisheye cameras and features

Video dewarping is supported for cameras federated from Security Center on-premises version 5.13 or later. For cameras federated from an earlier version, the camera is visible, but the video isn’t dewarped.
