Adding recording profiles

2026-04-14Last updated

To remove friction during large-scale camera deployments and for consistent configurations across multiple cameras, you can use recording profiles to specify video, storage, and retention settings.

What you should know

  • You can add up to 17 profiles to complement the default profiles for cloud, appliance, and edge recording.
  • The recording location can’t be changed after a profile has been created. To modify a camera's recording location, associate it with a profile configured to a different location.

Procedure

  1. In the Configuration task, click Video settings > Add profile .
  2. In the Add recording profile dialog:
    1. Enter a name for the profile.
    2. In the Video section, configure the Resolution, Frame rate, and Maximum bit rate.
    3. In the Storage section, select a Recording location relevant to your device type:
      D2C cameras
Select Camera edge recording or Cloud.
      Cloudlink cameras
      Select Cloud or Appliance.
    4. In the Storage section, select a Video retention period.
Click Custom to specify a retention period. The maximum video retention period is 1,096 days (3 years).
    5. (Optional) To enable SD card failover for cloud connections, select Camera records to its SD card if the cloud connection is lost.
      Note:
This option is always available when creating a recording profile, but is greyed out when the profile is associated to cameras that don't support edge recording.
  3. Click Add profile.
  4. (Optional) Click the recording profile to view or modify the profile Properties or Cameras associated with the profile.

After you finish

Associate cameras with a recording profile.
