Configuring advanced user settings
If the pre-configured roles don't meet the needs of a user or group, or if you want to override settings configured at the group level for individual users, you can customize their settings in Genetec™ Configuration desktop.

  - About users and roles
    Users represent individuals with access to the Security Center SaaS system. System administrators create user entities with pre-defined roles and configure their rights and privileges.

    Before you can manage devices and users in Security Center SaaS, you must first add users and assign their user role.

        To display a specific map when a user opens the Maps task in Genetec™ Operation, you can set a default map in Genetec™ Configuration desktop.
    - Understanding third-party authentication
      Third-party authentication uses a trusted, external identity provider to validate user credentials before granting access to one or more IT systems. The authentication process returns identifying information to authorize or deny access. You can also use SSO (single-sign on) to centralize user authentication across multiple systems.

Setting user levels

To define which users get priority over the PTZ controls of cameras, you must set the user level of users and group.

What you should know

Priority over PTZ controls is always given to the user with the highest level (1=highest). If two competing users have the same user level, the user who requested the stream first is given priority. Once a user gains control over a PTZ camera, that user locks it.

Procedure

From the homepage in Genetec™ Configuration, click User management > Advanced .
From the entity browser, select a user or group to configure.
Click the Properties tab.
Set the User level option to Override.
Use the User level slider to adjust the user level.
(Optional) To apply user levels to specific areas:
1. Click the Configure user-level overrides button.
2. Click Add an item ().
3. Select an area, and click OK.
4. Use the User level slider to adjust the user level for the area.
5. Click Save.
Click Apply.
