Map provider settings

2026-10-01Last updated

Refer to the settings and requirements needed to configure Azure Maps, Google Maps, Web Map Service (WMS), and Tile Map Service (TMS) providers for geographic maps in Security Center SaaS.

The settings displayed in the map provider dialog box depend on the provider selected from the Provider list. Refer to the following sections for provider-specific requirements and settings.

Azure Maps and Google Maps settings

Before connecting to Azure Maps or Google Maps, obtain a valid license and license key for the provider that you want to use.

Setting Description
Provider Select the map type that you want to use. A preview of the selected map is displayed.
Azure Maps (Roads) General-purpose map.
Azure Maps (Satellite) Satellite map without labels.
Google map General-purpose map.
Google satellite map Satellite map without labels.
Google terrain map Labeled topographic map with three-dimensional terrain.
License key Enter the license key for the selected provider, and then click Validate. If the license key is correct, the license status changes to Valid.
Geocoding Enable this option if the provider license includes geocoding services. Geocoding enables the Map Manager to convert latitude and longitude coordinates into a street address and a street address into coordinates. Users can also search for a street address from the Maps task in Genetec™ Operation and zoom in to that address.

WMS provider settings

The Web Map Service (WMS) standard separates maps into one or more layers of georeferenced information. The Map Manager supports WMS protocol versions 1.3.0 and 1.1.1.

Important:
WMS maps must use EPSG:4326.
Setting Description
Provider Select WMS.
Name Enter a name for the map provider.
Address Enter the base URL of the WMS server. Server capabilities are discovered automatically.
Use authentication Enable this option if the server requires authentication, and then enter the username and password.
Connect Connects to the server. If the URL is valid, a preview of the map and a list of available layers are displayed.
Layers Select the layers to display. All available layers are selected by default. Clear any layers that you do not need.

TMS provider settings

The Map Manager supports Tile Map Service (TMS) servers that deliver tile content through URLs containing zoom-level, X-coordinate, and Y-coordinate variables.

Setting Description
Provider Select Custom *.
Name Enter a name for the map provider.
Address Enter the URL of the TMS server. The URL must follow a supported web tile server format.
Show advanced options Displays the maximum zoom level and authentication settings.
Maximum zoom level Set the maximum zoom level supported by the map to a value from 1 through 25. The default value is 17.
Use authentication Enable this option if the server requires authentication, and then enter the username and password.
Connect Connects to the server. If the URL is valid, the map is displayed.

URL format for web tile servers

The Map Manager supports the following URL format for web tile servers:

http://<Server>/tile/<Version>/<Layer>/<Style>/{z}/{x}/{y}.<FileType>
URL element Description Mandatory
Server The root URL of the Web Map Tile Service (WMTS) resource. Yes
Version The version of the WMTS standard, for example, 1.0.0.
Layer The map layer.
Style The style of the map layer, usually default.
{z}/{x}/{y} The zoom factor ({z}), X position ({x}), and Y position ({y}) variables that are part of the WMTS standard. These values are calculated automatically when the map is viewed in Security Center SaaS. Yes
FileType The format of the file, usually JPEG or PNG format. Yes

Web tile server URL

http://sampleserver6.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/WorldTimeZones/MapServer/WMTS/tile/1.0.0/WorldTimeZones/default/default028mm/{z}/{y}/{x}.png

Geocoding priority

The order of providers in the Map providers section determines the geocoding priority. The provider at the top of the list is queried first. If that provider cannot return a result, the next provider in the list is queried.
