Adding intrusion detection areas as shapes on maps

2026-07-14Last updated

To help operators easily visualize intrusion detection areas and monitor their state changes, you can add intrusion detection areas to your maps as shapes.

Before you begin

Procedure

  1. From the homepage in Genetec™ Configuration desktop, open the Map designer task.
  2. Select a recent map or click Browse all maps to open an existing map.
  3. In the Shapes section, click a shape, and draw the shape on the map.
    To draw a polygon:
    • Click once to add an endpoint.
    • Click the first endpoint to close the shape.
    • Use Shift+click to add or remove a point between two points.
    • Double-click a point to complete the shape without closing it.
  4. From the side panel, click the Identity list and select the intrusion area to link to the shape.
If you're only using the shape to mark a point of interest, you don’t need to assign an entity. Unassigned map objects have no name.
  5. (Optional) To make the shape a map link, click the Links list and select a map.
