Associating cameras with a recording profile

2025-04-10Last updated

To centrally manage or deploy multiple direct-to-cloud cameras using the same properties, associate them with a recording profile. The recording profile is used to specify the predetermined video settings, recording location, and video retention period.

Before you begin

Add your recording profiles.

What you should know

This process is typically used to associate cameras with a recording profile during initial setup. However, this process can also be used to switch recording profiles.

Cameras can only be associated with one recording profile at a time.

Procedure

  1. In the Genetec™ Configuration web sidebar, click System.
  2. From the Recording profiles list, select either a cloud recording or edge recording profile.
  3. In the recording profile sidebar, click the Cameras tab.
  4. Click Associate cameras with profile then search for or select one or more cameras.
Associate cameras with profile dialog in Genetec Configuration web showing two cameras to associate with the selected recording profile.
When selecting cameras to associate with a recording profile, only relevant cameras are shown in the list. For example, only cameras that support edge recording are displayed in an edge recording profile.
Note: For a multisensor camera, each sensor is listed in the camera column as shown for an Axis Q6010-E camera in the following example.
Associate cameras with profile dialog in Genetec Configuration web showing four multisensor cameras to associate with the selected recording profile.
    1. If your camera is a multisensor camera, do one of the following:
      • Select all your camera sensors to associate with this recording profile.
      • Select one or more of your camera sensors to associate with this recording profile.
  5. Click Associate cameras.
    1. If the Video might be deleted dialog is displayed, review the information and if you agree, select I understand that the affected video will be deleted and click Continue.
Note: This dialog is only displayed when the selected recording profile has a lower video retention setting than one or more of the associated cameras.

In the Recording profile Cameras tab, information messages are displayed next to cameras to indicate any settings that were adjusted. The adjusted settings only use settings that the camera supports.

  6. (Optional) For multisensor cameras, repeat this procedure to select one or more sensors to associate with other edge recording profiles if required.
