Adding recording profiles

2025-06-19Last updated

To remove friction during large-scale camera deployments and for consistent configurations across multiple cameras, you can use recording profiles to specify video, storage, and retention settings.

What you should know

Integrators or system administrators can add up to 17 profiles to complement the predefined Appliance recording, Camera edge recording, and Cloud recording default profiles. Using these options, you can manage storage locations and retention settings.

Cameras enrolled before recording profiles existed are automatically associated with custom camera settings that can be changed anytime.

The recording location can’t be changed after a profile has been created. To modify a camera's recording location, associate it with a profile configured to a different location.

Procedure

  1. In the Genetec™ Configuration web sidebar, click System and click Add profile.
  2. In the Add recording profile dialog, configure the settings.
    1. Enter a name for the profile.
    2. In the Video section, check or update the Resolution, Frame rate, and Maximum bit rate as required.
    3. In the Storage section, specify a Recording location relevant to your device type:
      D2C cameras
Camera edge recording or Cloud recording.
      Cloudlink cameras
      Appliance recording or Cloud recording.
      Note:
The camera edge recording location is available only for Axis direct-to-cloud cameras that support SD cards and have firmware version 11.11 or later.
    4. In the Storage section, specify your preferred Video retention period.
Select a retention period from the choices available or click Custom to specify a retention period in days. The maximum video retention period is 1,096 days (3 years).
Add recording profile dialog in Genetec Configuration web showing the recording profile fields and settings.
  3. Click Add profile.
  4. (Optional) Click the recording profile to view or modify the profile Properties or Cameras associated with the profile.

After you finish
