Adding recording profiles

2025-04-10Last updated

To remove friction during large-scale camera deployments or for consistent configurations across multiple cameras, use recording profiles. Using recording profiles you can specify preconfigured video settings, recording location, and the video retention period.

What you should know

Integrators or system administrators can add up to 19 profiles including the two predefined default profiles Cloud recording and Camera edge recording.

Any cameras enrolled before recording profiles existed are automatically associated with a Custom recording profile to retain their configuration settings. The selected profile and settings for those cameras can be changed later.

Procedure

  1. In the Genetec™ Configuration web sidebar, click System and click Add profile.
  2. In the Add recording profile dialog, configure the settings.
    1. Enter a name for the profile.
    2. In the Video section, check or update the Resolution, Frame rate, and Maximum bit rate as required.
    3. In the Storage section, specify your preferred recording location:
      Recording location
Select either Cloud or Camera edge recording.
Note: The recording location can’t be changed after a profile has been set up.
      Video retention
Select a retention period from the choices available or click Custom to specify a retention period in days. The maximum video retention period is 1,096 days (3 years).
Add recording profile dialog in Genetec Configuration web showing the recording profile fields and settings.
  3. Click Add profile.
  4. (Optional) Click the recording profile to view or modify the profile Properties or Cameras associated with the profile.

After you finish
