Controlling PTZ cameras

2025-07-02Last updated

To monitor or control your PTZ cameras, use the Monitoring task in Genetec™ Operation desktop or Genetec™ Operation web.

What you should know

PTZ configuration controls are only accessible through Genetec™ Operation desktop. Only zoom controls (+ and -) and preset selection are available in Genetec™ Operation web.
  • Operation desktop: PTZ lock or direction buttons are not supported.
  • Operation web: PTZ lock, direction buttons, area zoom, point-and-click, and creating presets are not supported.
In Operation desktop, point-and-click control replaces traditional directional buttons, operators now click in the video stream to reposition the camera.
Tip:
If the dome camera icon () is displayed in Operation web or Operation desktop, PTZ functions are supported for that camera.

For more information about devices and the associated firmware that support PTZ functions, see the Feature Matrix in the Security Center SaaS Supported Device List.
